Sensei Alistair Burns

I first started training in Karate in 1976 with Sensei Danny Bryceland in my home town of Dumbarton. After five years of training, I passed my Shodan under Sensei Enoeda. Over the following years, I involved myself in teaching Karate in Glasgow and being part of the W.S.K.A. Kumite team.

After several years of tournaments throughout Scotland, England and Europe, I graded to Nidan under Sensei Enoeda.

In the mid nineties, I left W.S.K.A. and joined K.U.G.B. to allow me to continue my training under Sensei Enoeda as well as Sensei Ohta, Sensei Kawasoe, Sensei Kase, Sensei Tomita and Sensei Kanazawa.

In 2000, along with Sensei Mike McCusker, I moved to K.W.F. under Yahara Sensei.

I progressed to Sandan within K.W.F. and in 2000, I left Glasgow, leaving my club to Sensei McCusker in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow.

I started my new club in Fort William at which I still teach today.

Over this period, I graded to Yondan and Godan and in September 2012, I graded to Rokudan as well as qualifying as a C level instructor, examiner and referee.

In October 2013, I successfully qualified as a B level instructor, examiner and referee.

In 2004 and 2005 I travelled to Japan with K.W.F. Scotland to train with Yahara Sensei and Isaka Sensei. I returned in January 2012 and January 2014 to train at the Hombu Dojo under Yahara Sensei and all the K.W.F. instructors.

I continue to travel to train with Supreme Shihan Instructors of K.W.F. This includes regular visits to London to train with Sensei Jim Lewis to continue my development of K.W.F Karate.
